subjekat
U teoriji subjektiviteta, postoji razlika između subjekta i pojedinca. Dok je pojedinac realna osoba, subjekat je sklop uloga koje su formirane od strane kulturnih i ideoloških vrednosti (na primer, klasa, godine, pol i etnička pripadnost). Strukturalistička ideja "pozicioniranja subjekta" se odnosi na "građenje" subjekta u okviru teksta. Prema ovoj teoriji tekstualnog (ili diskurzivnog) pozicioniranja, čitalac je obavezan da usvoji "poziciju subjekta" koja postoji u strukturi i kodovima teksta. Subjekti su stoga izgrađeni kao "idealni čitaoci" kroz upotrebu kodova.
